There are many diseases that are untreatable with Western Medicine.

Unfortunately, some in the Medical Profession are loth to admit that there is no western Medicine cure and subject their hapless patients to endless tests and useless and costly procedures that could have been resolved by the application of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It will therefore come as no surprise that in most Chinese Hospitals, Western Medicine is augmented by Traditional Chinese Medicine (T.C.M.). In other words: When Western Medicine fails, Traditional Chinese Medicine kicks-in, often with dramatic effect.. Compounds such as Aspirin, Penicillin and it’s derivatives are, in origin, all the product of herbal and natural processes, the very essence of Traditional Chinese Medicine..

But there is more:

Acupuncture, the application of precious metal needles which are virtually painlessly inserted into critical body junctures often lead to cures that Western Doctors are at a loss to explain but which are entirely predictable by rigorous application of Traditional Chinese Medicine rules. Another important aspect of TCM is the therapeutic massage or body-part manipulation.; Western Medics are often surprised that seemingly endless Physiotherapy sessions can be dramatically reduced by the judicious application of Traditional Chinese Medicine Therapeutic Massages. Especially, permanent pain relief of spinal problems, sprained ligaments, rheumatism and stiffness of the joints. The principles of all these vital elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine are clearly explained during the course and in some instances, supported with life demonstrations.

At the conclusion of each TCM module, there is a formal examination. Candidates who have satisfactorily passed these exams will be awarded the Jiao Tong University Traditional Chinese Medicine Certificate

Course Introduction

The Traditional Chinese Medicine approach is fundamentally different from that of Western medicine. Chinese TCM doctors have experimented, tried, tested and applied nature’s abundant herbs, potions , minerals, rare earths and animal glands to prepare medicines that are effective without upsetting the delicate body balances that modern western medicines so often wreck.

The clinical diagnosis and treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine are mainly based on the yin-yang and five elements theories. These theories apply the phenomena and laws of nature to the study of the physiological activities and pathological changes of the human body and its interrelationships. A typical TCM therapy may include acupuncture, herbal medicine, and qigong exercises. With acupuncture, treatment is accomplished by stimulating certain areas of the external body. Herbal medicine acts mainly on zang-fu organs internally, while qigong tries to restore the orderly information flow inside the network through the regulation of Qi. These therapies appear very different in approach yet they all share the same underlying sets of assumptions and insights in the nature of the human body and its place in the universe. Some learned scholars and scientists describe the treatment of diseases through TCM, herbal medication, acupuncture, and qigong as an "information therapy".
